Appreciating Privilege
Happy New Year, QiCurious Explorers!
Where does this moment find you? Can you find softness within yourself?
How do you feel as you breathe into your being in this here and now? In what ways are you privileged to be?
I have been circling these questions for myself and feeling into a fresh opening.
This holiday season, the stars aligned, and I was gifted the opportunity to be with my brothers on the Big Island of Hawaii. We shared space on a glorious property, where one of my brothers is a land steward. What an honor and distinct joy to have been able to settle into the lushness of this natural sanctuary together!
We exchanged personal practices, cooked together, and explored. As our time together drew to a close, we shared a community meditation, hosted by the inspired keepers of this sanctuary space, Joel and Michelle Levey. Joel asked us to reflect on the amazing occurrences that allowed so many molecules to coalesce over such a distance and time, resulting in the distinct privilege of being able to sit together in that moment. Wow!
The idea of this privilege resided within me.
What a privilege to create memories on that wondrous island! What a privilege to have a floor under my feet and a roof over my head! What a privilege to afford a moment to quiet my thoughts! What a privilege to be a small human in a vast expanse of time and space!
It can be easy to fall into the trap of desiring, craving, reaching for more. And I fully acknowledge that, for many of us, this particular year opens with fresh challenges. Money seems tight. Time feels scarce. The unexpected has surprised us.
And yet, I invite you to open up some space in this New Year to honor the unique privileges you currently have. The abundance that is you simply being in this glorious world in this present moment. Breathe into this, and you may find that you are residing with more bounty than you previously thought.
Carry this abundance into your flow. Soften into your personal practice with a sense of knowing yourself already complete, and more than complete, privileged.
What beauty of potential might unfurl through this lens? How might you share your privilege to nurture a bright future for all beings?
With much gratitude for your being in this world with me,
Jennie Delich, Founder
